JEFFREY GLEASON, Co-Chair of the Working Parents Committee,
is a Partner in the Business and Finance Department of Woods Oviatt Gilman LLP. Jeff's practice involves representing business clients ranging from start-ups to publicly-traded companies across a variety of industries as well as individual clients in their business-related matters. Jeff routinely advises his clients in connection with mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, private equity and debt financings, corporate governance, and employment related matters. His experience includes representing West Corporation in connection with their initial public offering, representing Covidien plc in its $2.3 billion tender offer for ev3, Inc., advising Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, Inc. in connection with its $890 million acquisition of Canadian gourmet coffee roaster Van Houtte USA Holdings, Inc., and representing private equity funds with over $50 billion under management in numerous Series A and Series B investments. Despite this large range of experience, he prefers to focus on helping technology and biotechnology start-up companies in the challenges routinely facing those businesses.
Jeff received his B.A. in Political Science, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina in 2004. He went on to receive his J.D., cum laude, from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School in 2008. While in law school, he was an Executive Publications Editor for the Buffalo Law Review and served on the Executive Board of both the Buffalo Moot Court Board and the Jessup International Moot Court Board. In 2008, Jeff received the Law Faculty Award for his work with the Hurricane Katrina Service Project and the Justice Philip Halpern Award for Excellence in Writing for his Comment From Russia with Love: The Legal Repercussions of the Recruitment and Contracting of Foreign Hockey Players in the National Hockey League.
