E-MAIL: Nicole Komin
NICOLE M. KOMIN, Deputy Treasurer and Co-Chair of the Book Club Series and the Wellness and Education Committee, is the Assistant Vice President for Business Development at McGuire Development.
She was previously the Director of the MedLaw Partnership of WNY, Kaleida Division, at the Center for Elder Law & Justice (CELJ). In her role, Ms. Komin has spearheaded the expansion CELJ’s MedLaw Partnership to include one of Buffalo’s largest healthcare providers, Kaleida Health. She works closely with healthcare providers to provide patients with free legal assistance and services to address and prevent health-harming social conditions. Previously, Ms. Komin created, implemented, and coordinated CELJ’s pro bono program, where she worked with staff and pro bono partners to create and manage pro bono projects, place cases, match individual volunteers with appropriate clients, and coordinated trainings. She also represented grandparents seeking custody of relative children to avoid foster care.
Ms. Komin currently serves as Chair of the WBASNY WNY Book Club Committee and she is also Vice President of the Board of Directors for Amherst Senior Transportation Services. In her free time Ms. Komin volunteers for Fleet Feet, a local footwear and fitness store that provides training programs for walkers and runners. Since January 2017, Nicole dedicates her Saturday mornings to pacing and coaching runners as they train for marathons and other long-distance races.
Ms. Komin received her Juris Doctor from SUNY Buffalo Law School in 2015. She also has been the recipient of several awards, including WBASNY’s Doris S. Hoffman Outstanding New Lawyer Award, Rising Star by Super Lawyers magazine in 2019, and recognized as an emerging attorney by Buffalo’s Business First magazine.
