BOARD OF DIRECTORS:
VANESSA GLUSHEFSKI, Deputy Treasurer, is the owner of Glushefski Law. Her law practice is located on the Westside of Buffalo, near Lafayette Ave. and Grant Street. Glushefski Law has just reached its one-year mark and is currently in the process of obtaining New York State’s M/WBE certification. The main focus of the practice is to offer affordable services to those who need assistance with everyday legal services, but can’t afford to pay large retainers. Aside from this, Vanessa hopes to merge her prior work experience and tax knowledge to work on projects where her skills can be of use.
Vanessa graduated Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Buffalo Law School in May 2014. She is admitted to practice in New York and the United States Court of New York’s Western District.
During law school, Vanessa was an active member of the SUNY Buffalo Law School chapter of the American Constitution Society, serving as its president all three years. A 2012 Marie Nesbitt Promise Prize Winner, Vanessa received an award for her academic performance and exceptional promise as well as a one-time scholarship. Vanessa also had the privilege and opportunity to work with Dr. Sagit Leviner on an intensive research project in the area of International Taxation.
Vanessa dedicates one day a week to volunteering at Prisoners’ Legal Services of New York (PLS) in the Buffalo office. There she specializes in researching and advising on Family Law matters. She also contributed significantly to the revision of PLS’ statewide memo on parental rights. For her efforts, in October 2015, she received the 2015 Paul J. Curran Award with a proclamation from New York Senator Tim Kennedy recognizing the same.
In addition to WBASNY, Vanessa is involved with the Western New York Lawyer chapter of the American Constitution Society, where she is the Vice Co-Chair, the board of Legal Services for the Elderly, Disabled, and Disadvantaged and was recently named their Diversity Committee Chair, and Peaceprints of WNY.
