In addition to her professional responsibilities, Ashley has mentored numerous law students and younger office assistants.  She initiated the Officer "Skip" McDougald Adopt-a-School Project at the Buffalo Alternative School, a program designed to build and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and city residents.  Through this program, the DA’s Office planted and maintains a Grassroots Garden at the school.  Ashley regularly lectures at WNY schools, teaching youths about the real life application of the law and leadership.  She is currently collaborating with Say Yes Buffalo to create a debate program for city youth.

In 2018, Ashley and her husband, Joe, designed, renovated, and opened UNOVA Coworking in their hometown of Springville.  Additionally, Ashley is a founding member and current vice president of Green Springville, a non-profit focused on projects that promote sustainable energy, environmental development, recreational facilities, and economic opportunities.  As a Green Springville Board Member, she also serves on the Oversight Committee for the Springville Community Trout Pond Renovation Project, a collaboration with the Springville Field and Stream Club.
