Ashley Rae Lowry, State Delegate, Judge's Choice Committee Chair, Co-chair of the Criminal Law Committee, and Representative to the State Judiciary Committee, is an Erie County Assistant District Attorney in the Appeals Bureau, where she handles direct appeals, post-conviction motions, and federal habeas corpus petitions. She provides research assistance to the trial attorneys, as well as continuing legal education both within her organization and outside of it. Ashley frequently argues before the Appellate Division, Fourth Department in Rochester, and has argued at the NYS Court of Appeals in Albany four times, where she remains undefeated. In 2017, one of her cases received statewide attention and NYU School of Law asked her to guest lecture a class regarding its significance.

Ashley maintains active memberships in WBASNY WNY and the Erie County Bar Association. She currently serves as the WBASNY WNY Deputy Treasurer. She also chairs the Judge’s Choice Committee, co-chairs the Criminal Law Committee, and serves as a representative on the state Judiciary Committee.

In addition to her professional responsibilities, Ashley has mentored numerous law students and younger office assistants. She initiated the Officer "Skip" McDougald Adopt-a-School Project at the Buffalo Alternative School, a program designed to build and strengthen relationships between law enforcement and city residents. Through this program, the DA’s Office planted and maintains a Grassroots Garden at the school. Ashley regularly lectures at WNY schools, teaching youths about the real life application of the law and leadership. She is currently collaborating with Say Yes Buffalo to create a debate program for city youth.

In 2018, Ashley and her husband, Joe, designed, renovated, and opened UNOVA Coworking in their hometown of Springville. Additionally, Ashley is a founding member and current vice president of Green Springville, a non-profit focused on projects that promote sustainable energy, environmental development, recreational facilities, and economic opportunities. As a Green Springville Board Member, she also serves on the Oversight Committee for the Springville Community Trout Pond Renovation Project, a collaboration with the Springville Field and Stream Club.

Ashley was recognized as a 2018 BN360 Spotlight Professional by the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and in 2019 received the 4 Under 40 Award from the Springville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Ashley earned her B.A. and J.D. degrees, magna cum laude, from the University at Buffalo. Ashley is admitted to practice law in the state of New York, as well as before the United States Supreme Court, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals, and WNY District Court. In her free time, Ashley enjoys baking and relaxing with her husband and two shelter cats.
