Bethany A. Solek is the Chapter’s thirty-sixth President. This marks her seventh year as a member of the Board of Directors. Prior to her presidency, she served as President-Elect, three years as Treasurer, and several years as a local director. Beth is active at the state level where she participates on several committees and chaired the 2019 Convention committee.
Ms. Solek is a Special Victims prosecutor with the Erie County District Attorney’s Office. Here, she investigates and prosecutes sexually based offenses and crimes against children. She has been assigned to this bureau for six years where she seeks justice for society's most vulnerable victims. Her duties include serving on the Western New York Child Exploitation Task Force Working Group. Ms. Solek has also lectured at the Erie County Central Police Services Police Academy as well as the Bar Association of Erie County. She is an accredited instructor for the Division of Criminal Justice Services of the State of New York and the Enough Child Abuse campaign.
From 2008 through 2014, she was assigned to the Vehicular Crimes Bureau where she successfully prosecuted vehicular assaults and manslaughters, repeat offenders, and felony crimes. For this work, she was named Top Prosecutor in 2010 and 2015 by Erie County STOP DWI. In addition to her caseload, Ms. Solek, in conjunction with Erie County STOP DWI, lectured at local high schools about the dangers of impaired driving. In recognition of her work with this program, Ms. Solek was awarded the Liberty Bell Award on Law Day 2016 by the Bar Association of Erie County.
Ms. Solek also gives back to the community. She served on the PreventionFocus OK5K organizing committee. Ms. Solek currently organizes annual toy drives for her office to benefit the Sabres Alumni Foundation as well as WBASNY to benefit the children served by Legal Aid and Children and Family Services.
Ms. Solek is a member of the 2018 class of Business First's Forty Under Forty.
Prior to working at the District Attorney's Office, she was an associate at Lipsitz Green Scime Cambria LLP in their Criminal Defense department.
Ms. Solek graduated from University at Buffalo School of Law. She earned her undergraduate degree in psychology from Canisius College.
